HMRC has issued its latest bulletin which confirms that full customs declarations and controls are due to be introduced as planned on 1 January 2022. This means that the option to delay customs declarations for up to 175 days, without an authorisation from HMRC, is coming to an end on 31 December.

Those that have not made any declarations to HMRC for goods moved from the EU since January 2021 will need to start preparing for this change now.

HMRC’s bulletin explains the steps that need to be taken to prepare, including completing supplementary declarations and paying any duties owed.
